Through photography, Matthieu Litt never ceases to question our relationship with the world. From his earliest series, he has explored the interactions between humans and landscapes, and over time his research has opened up more widely to the spectrum of living things. The photographic lens then becomes the author's means of observing the complex weave of links that weave themselves between beings. Convinced of the reconstructive power of his medium, he seeks to use it to restore the fractured link between humans and their environment.
By taking this path, Matthieu Litt gradually frees himself from a documentary dimension, in favour of a resolutely poetic perspective. It is through their eminently plastic treatments that his works reflect the fragility of our ecosystems and the disasters to come. The indeterminacy in which his subjects are immersed is entirely deliberate, as the photographer deliberately blurs the space-time contours. He is driven more by the desire to recreate an aesthetic experience than a palpable reality.
In this way, the photographer inscribes the different territories he explores in a sensitive and poetic cartography. And in so doing, he strives day by day to renew our sense of belonging to the world.
